Oh, the National Stationery Show! I could spend forever walking up and down the aisles of the Jacob Javits Center in NYC seeing all the amazing new papers and products available and the endless inspiration. Although our time there last month was limited, Candice and I found fantastic new suppliers and even more options for unique papers, embellishments, and the latest in cutting edge printing options.
We checked out the latest pockets and products from Envelopments and Do It With More Options including Envelopment's new line of favor boxes and Do It With More Options' new custom die cutting services.
As a reminder, if you are getting married in the Winter/Spring of 2011, now is the time to start looking for invitations. We offer endless options for gorgeous custom invitations. Contact us at 973-518-3380 or info@thefinishingtouchevents.com to discuss all we can do to help you announce your wedding in style.
All the Best,
Priscilla

Congratulations to our couple Nicole and Chris who won the
"Tie the Knot on the Tall Ship" Contest!!
Erik Kent, co-publisher of NJWedding.com, called them on Tuesday evening with the great news. They will be getting married aboard NJ's Official Tall Ship, A.J. Meerwald, on July 24th in Beach Haven on Long Beach Island. The ceremony will be performed by Deborah C. Whitcraft, a wedding officiant and the former mayor of Beach Haven. Photography will be provided for the wedding day by David Toth Photographers along with video coverage by J & S Video Services, as well as invitations by Stephanie Somodi.
The couple was thrilled to hear that they had won. Originally, they had wanted to have a destination wedding and be married on the beaches of the Dominican Republic. However, due to certain circumstances they decided to hold the wedding closer to home and were very interested in Long Beach Island. It seemed like it was fate for our amazing couple to win this incredible experience! We are excited to work alongside our fellow Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce members to make their special day unforgettable! Over Memorial Day weekend, we took our six month old daughters on their first trip to the beach. We decided to visit Barnegat Light Long Beach Island, NJ and stayed at the very accommodating Minerva's by the Sea. Owned by the friendly and gracious Emma, this great bed and breakfast is just steps away from the water and has great views. Within walking distance, there are also good places to have lunch and dinner.
Breakfast, however, is included in your stay....and ours was delicious. In the quaint kitchen, we watched Emma whip up a delicious Brie cheese omelet served with toast and avocado on the side.
One of the things we loved about our stay was that Emma provided us with two pack and plays for the girls. Our room was spacious with a living room area and full kitchen. Minerva's also has a library of books with a variety of titles, which includes a little play area for children. It is very family friendly, and is also great for corporate events and special occasions.
It is also an ideal place for couples to have a romantic getaway, as there is lots of privacy, and you will barely know anyone else is also visiting during your stay.
We are super excited to let you all know that now through the end of this year exclusively for our FT brides and friends, while you are scouting out LBI for your wedding venue, stay at Minerva's by the Sea and get a 20% discount on any room when you mention this blog.
Happy Planning,
Soroya

Last Tuesday at the ISES NJ North's Garden State Gala "Bling it On...Honoring Those Who Shine" Awards, the Finishing Touch was presented with the award for Best Social Event for "Baby, Oh Baby- A Vintage Sports Themed Shower"!
The vintage sports themed baby shower was held at the beautiful Women's Club of Ridgewood. The team creatively put a vintage twist on the sports theme since Candice was expecting a baby girl. The invitation resembled a vintage baseball ticket in pink and red.
Other details included centerpieces that had a layer of baseballs under glass topped by an arrangement of wheat grass and red and white Gerber daisies. Popcorn favors, custom pink and red jersey cookies and matching advice and baby shower bingo cards were also a part of the decor.
The team at The Finishing Touch surely hit one out of the park with this event! Click here to read more.

As a special first Mother's Day gift from my husband, I recently spent a day of pampering at the Lia Schorr Day Spa in NYC. Although the ambiance of the spa is quite understated, the services are superb. Lia greeted me personally when I arrived, and by the time I left, I felt like family. Her accommodating staff made me feel the same way too. I greatly enjoyed my hot stone massage and body scrub by Siobhan, wax by Tami and crystal and seaweed facial by Eugenyia.
Lia has been in business for almost thirty years, and most of her team has been with her since the very beginning. Lia also runs a skin care school, and has had numerous celebrity clients visit her spa throughout the years including Oprah and Brooke Shields.
Just in time for wedding season, and as a special treat for our Finishing Touch brides and friends, Lia is offering 30% off of all her services if you mention reading this blog. Visit her website here to learn more, and book your appointment for a day of beauty today. Enjoy!
Cheers,
Soroya
